Unfortunately the old subcontract semi's probably don't get used enough.

I've got a nine-speed Eaton Fuller that has been sitting well-nigh of the year and now seems to be stuck in neutral. The stick moves all the gears through their paces properly only the hi/lo shifter seems to exist not-functional -- I don't go the normal clunk when moving the selector to either lo or hullo. I can hear the clutch engage and disengage merely the trans seems to exist stuck in neutral.

I've got air pressure at both small lines on the stick and have a good air supply to the slave valve on the side of the trans. I removed the slave valve (an one-time A4688 valve), cleaned it up, and fabricated certain the spool moves freely. The air line to it and from the slave valve to the rear of the trans will be replaced as they're old and breakable.

Where else should I exist looking? Thanks.

It sounds like the valve on the left side of the shift housing is stuck. This valve prevents the range from shifting unless the gearshift passes through neutral. At that place is an air filter/regulator associates that supplies clean air at around 65psi to the air shift system on your manual but information technology sounds like you already accept air. Does the shift valve on the gearshift appear to be working and exhausting air okay?
I tried to put a link on here to Eatons online manual, not sure your model number but the air shift system should be the same as these units.

Thanks for the link, I'll expect into a little deeper.

I do get a burst of air frazzle when moving the gearshift range selector from Lo to Hi. I always assumed the transmission would default to Lo range if there was a problem with the air shift system, not neutral.

2 can't recall ever having the range gears stuck between gears, take yous really checked to run across if the driveshaft is turning? If it is a tandem you might take a power divider failure or a broken weld on a yolk or something. Clutch isn't hung up some how is it? When you push the clutch in does information technology actual grind the gears a bit when y'all put it in gear? What kind of truck is it? buschman

It's an older IH Cabover. I don't recall whatever grinding and the driveshaft is not turning.

I'm replacing the air lines to the slave valve and range selector and volition cheque for proper airflows once again.

Existent erstwhile like as in Transtar or Transtar II ('70s) or like the 9670? I grew up with International cabovers, nosotros take 7 around here that are all the same running CO9670s.

No grinding? If you get out the clutch out and just move the gearshift to put it in gear it should grind at to the lowest degree a bit I would call up, I wonder if the clutch has failed but that would be an extremely long shot I think. We have had clutches neglect like that here merely usually you are using the truck and it doesn't fail to the point of non even turning the transmission, there is ordinarily some drag just won't move the truck. I tin't remember what actually happens in in that location.
It doesn't sound like an air upshot, if you shift the range knob in gear then move the gearshift to neutral does the slave cylinder make that air sound then? Does anything click when you lot make the shift so climb under the truck and rock the tailshaft back and forth?
